Parola d’Artista: Che importanza e che valore ha per te il disegno nel tuo lavoro?

Gianni Asdrubali: Il disegno per un artista ( per me) è un fatto mentale connesso allo stomaco.

È la “cattura” della turbolenza dell’inizio. Una traccia-azione che per essere efficace non può essere che velocissima: un lampo.
E l’immagine di questo conflitto si esplicita nel passaggio dal neuronale al mentale, dal proto-se al se singolare. Un momento di discontinuità, di rottura, tra la centralità del programma genetico e l’immagine mentale. Una lotta di natura contro natura tra il determinismo genetico e la sua destrutturazione. Il disegno cioè è un momento germinale-iniziale che in questa lotta “fa il cervello” ( Catherine Malabou), lo libera dalla centralità deterministica del programma genetico. Ciò significa, allora, che “l’inizio” in un artista ( per me) è sempre ” ideologicamente” una natura contro natura, nel tentativo, non di rappresentare il mondo, ma di farne un’altro.

Parola d’Artista: What importance and value does drawing have for you in your work?

Gianni Asdrubali: Drawing for an artist (for me) is a mental fact connected to the stomach.
It is the ‘capture’ of the turbulence of the beginning. A trace-action that to be effective can only be very fast: a flash.
And the image of this conflict is made explicit in the passage from the neuronal to the mental, from the proto-se to the singular self. A moment of discontinuity, of rupture, between the centrality of the genetic programme and the mental image. A struggle of nature against nature between genetic determinism and its deconstruction. That is, drawing is a germinal-initial moment that in this struggle ‘makes the brain’ (Catherine Malabou), frees it from the deterministic centrality of the genetic programme. This means, then, that ‘the beginning’ in an artist (for me) is always ‘ideologically’ a nature against nature, in an attempt, not to represent the world, but to make another world.
